Stranger Things: Life in the Upside Down

Even if you've watched the Netflix series "Stranger Things" you might still have no idea what a sermon series borrowing the name is all about!  This is a bit of a stretch, but here's the idea: In the series, a coming-of-age story that takes place in the mid-1980's, a scientific experiment gone horribly wrong opens a door to "the upside down world."  It's a world of darkness and evil.

The Bible paints a different picture.  The Bible teaches that we are actually, already, living in the darkness.  Ours is a world that has been turned upside down by sin and evil.  We are actually the strangers living in a strange world.  But something has gone wonderfully right in Jesus Christ!  His birth opened a door to a new world- a world of light, of goodness, of grace!

Throughout January and February, we will continue through the Gospel of Luke, highlighting the episodes in Jesus' ministry that show us how and where this new world, the Kingdom of God, is breaking through.
