Learn more about the unforgettable experiences in this unique Cross Culture VBS program.

Day One: God gives us comfort.  We will explore Psalm 23 with all of our senses, discovering God’s comforting love.  Children will learn about how llamas comfort and help the people of Peru, taste the Incan treat Papa Fritas and play fun Peruvian games like Marbleous.  A KidVid will introduce Neil and Sharith, twins who live in the ancient city of Cusco in the Andes Mountains, who will explain God’s comfort even when life isn’t easy.

Day Two: God gives us patience.  We will explore Luke 2:21-40, learning about how Simeon and Anna waited for the best gift of all-God’s Messiah.  Children will experience what it is like to move through the jungle, discovering how kids in Peru sometimes have to wait for things.  A KidVid story will introduce Hector, an 11-year-old boy living in a village along the Ucayali River in the Amazon, who will show how few things come quickly or easily living in the jungle.

Day Three: God gives us peace.  We will explore Mark 4:35-41, becoming a part of the action as Jesus calms a wild storm.  Children will build floating island houses like those that populate Peru, play soccer and volleyball the soggy river way and experience a science experiment that demonstrates the way God’s peace covers and protects our hearts. A KidVid story will introduce Veronica, an ambitious teenager who lives on a man-made island floating on one of the highest mountain lakes in the world.

Day Four: God gives us love.  We will explore Luke 22:66-24:12, discovering the events that led Jesus to the cross.  Children will try Arroz con Leche rice pudding, make Peruvian gift boxes that represent the truth about Jesus and perform in a drama that explains God’s love for us.  A KidVid story will introduce Miguel, a child in a large and loving family who lives in the jungle city of Pucallpa, who found God’s love through the surprising generosity of a stranger.

Day Five: God gives us joy.  We will explore Acts 16:16-40, praising God with Paul and Silas through an earthquake.  Children will hear some of the unexpected sounds of Peru, play in the Sand Duuuune! and explore how nothing can “burst the bubble” of joy given to us by God.  A KidVid story will introduce Raoul, a teenager who lives in the oasis town of Huacachina, and watch him finding joy in sandboarding the slopes of some of the highest sand dunes in the world.

Since everything is hands-on, kids might get a little messy. Be sure to send them in play clothes and safe shoes.
